Parque Güell

Initially designed as a residential development, it was eventually turned into a park. A leisurely stroll through its gardens bordered with pines and palm will unveil astonishing oversized architectural shapes that seem to have sprung from the ground, in wonderfully balanced natural surroundings.

Casa Batlló

The façade of this building does not have a single straight line: even the3 walls are wavy. A close observation will reveal shapes of elephants, monsters or Venetian masks.

Sagrada Familia

The large Gothic Cathedral was built using an absolutely contemporary architecture, and is the most beautiful creation of its visionary genius and a symbol of the city of Barcelona the world over.

Camp Nou

Inaugurated in 1957, the Nou Camp football ground, which can seat 110,000 spectators, is the most typical construction within the huge Barcelona F.C. sports complex. The world's first football club museum was created here in 1984 where you can learn about the club's history, see works passed down by artists such as Miró, Dalí and Tapies, and visit the pitch.

La Rambla

La Rambla is the most popular area in Barcelona. Meandering from Plaça Catalunya to the statue of Columbus, this walkway is lined with kiosks, florists and shops and various artists provide the entertainment. This is the place where everyone meets, holidaymakers and locals alike.

Barrio Gótico

The Barrio Gótico is the centre from which the city began its expansion. It is also where the main public buildings stand: the Palacio de la Generalitat, the Ayuntamiento [council offices], the Cathedral and the Palacio Real.Barcelona's history goes back to Roman times, and despite the changes which have taken place, signs of its past may still be seen today.

Tourist bus

Tickets available at the reception and the stop is very near the hotel: Monasterio de Pedralbes. This double-decker bus enables you to discover Barcelona on three different routes included within the same ticket, stopping in 42 places of touristic interest.

Festivals of interest

Fiestas de Gracia
This famous district hosts its festivals coinciding with 15th August. Its residents embellish the streets with impressive decorations and a prize is awarded for the best design.

Fiestas de la Mercé
24th September, the patron saint of Barcelona. For 4 days, a whole host of cultural and sporting events takes place in the city. All attention is turned to concerts, corre-foc, fireworks and enormous processions.

Mercado de Santa Llúcia
This market is held from 13th to 24th December every year near the Cathedral and in the narrow streets adjacent to it. It comprises small wooden stalls filled with decorative items unique to the Christmas festivities, all these lit up with fairy lights and lanterns. The market sells crib figures, Christmas trees and all kinds of hand-crafted garlands.
